Directions to Tannenboden

Switzerland has an excellent train network, making it easy to reach Engelberg from anywhere in the country or from international destinations.

   From Zürich Airport or Zürich Main Station, take a train to Lucerne (approximately 45-60 minutes).

   From Lucerne, take the direct train to Engelberg (approximately 45 minutes).

   From Engelberg train station, you can either:

   • Take a taxi directly to the chalet (approx. 5 minutes)
   • Take the local bus to the 'Boden' stop
   • Walk to the chalet (approx. 20 minutes)

Tip: The Swiss Travel Pass offers unlimited travel on the Swiss Travel System network of trains, buses, and boats.

If you're traveling by car, Engelberg is well-connected to Switzerland's highway network.

   From Zürich: Take the A4 highway toward Lucerne, then follow the A2 toward Gotthard.

   Exit at Stans-Süd and follow the signs to Engelberg along route 8.

   Shortly before reaching Engelberg, after passing the Auto Portmann Garage on your right, continue on the road as it turns right and then left. Then:

   • Before turning left, you will see a large square with houses and an old hotel on the right side. Turn right from Engelbergerstrasse and enter this square.
   • You will notice a steel container on the right and Boden Bus Station.
   • Park your car near the container or alternatively, you can also park in front of the hotel, parking on the left wing-side when you look at the Hotel. (Near the underground parking.)
   • The chalet is located uphil (60 stairs) on the left side. Please use our navigation tool.

Tip: Snow chains might be required in winter. Free parking is available at the chalet.
